Removal of Hazardous Pollutants from Tannery Wastewater by Naval Filter

The filter media pumice was crushed and graded and effective size was determined by using standard sieve. The composite sample wastewater was collected from Dire tannery, Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The physicochemical analysis of wastewater samples has been done before and after 12, 24, and 72 hours treatment using standard methods.

Use of zero-valent iron-modified sand filters for greywater

The conventional sand filter when used alone for on-site treatment of greywater fails to meet different reuse standards, and hence there is a need to improve the potential of sand filters to remove different contaminants from greywater. Performance of zero-valent iron-modified (ZVI) sand filters is investigated in the present study for the …

Pumice as a Water Filtration Media (knowledge brief)

2. CONTINUED: The performance of pumice as a filter bed material under rapid filtration conditions "Sand is not a porous material and particulate material can only be retained in the spaces between the grains in the filter bed, so smaller particulate matter can more easily drain through the sand media and escape in the effluent water."(FIGURE 10) …

Cryptosporidium surrogate removal in pilot-scale rapid sand filters …

Variations in filter performance were greater in the anthracite trials than in the ceramic and pumice sand trials (Fig. 1, Table 2, Supplementary Figs. S4 and S5). The frequencies of the LRVs and LMRs ( Table 3 ) showed approximately normal distributions (Supplementary Fig. S5); thus, t -tests were appropriate for the statistical analyses.
