Jharsuguda CPP power station
The original power station consisted of seven subcritical 135 MW coal-burning units commissioned in 2008. In 2011 a 270 MW expansion of the existing coal-fired power station was commissioned. The expansion, which comprised two 135 MW units, is referred to as Jharsuguda CPP Units 8 & 9.
Lakhanpur Coal Mine
The Lakhanpur coal mine is part of the Ib Valley coal mines, owned by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (a subsidiary of state-owned Coal India ). [4] In May 2022, a proposal to increase the mine's production capacity from 21 to 22.5 MTPA over the existing mining lease area was granted environmental clearance (EC).
